How do you work with an OBM?

Ants

I am not asking for a friend, as I am a certified OBM and I can tell you how I normally work with clients.

That said every client is unique and has their own pet likes and hates… (don’t we all!)

Working with clients as an OBM means becoming the CEOs second brain but one that remains objective and questions everything.

We, as OBMs are not YES people. We question and review everything, but then we also help with the planning and implementation. It is an awesome journey to be on with a client and I am very fortunate to love what I do.

Recently a client told me they like their system and they got it on a special lifetime deal – is that what makes it the best system, and is truly the best suited system for their needs just because they got it on a special deal? In my opinion no – so as their OBM I am prepared to have those hard conversations about what could, should and will be changed.

This goes for systems, processes and people.

That does sound a tad harsh, but if you are serious enough to want to grow your business and you are serious enough to work with an OBM to get your business to the next level; you need to be prepared to hear the truth and the options that are available; and to make sure you have the right team around you to help your business grow.

We (OBM and CEO Client) normally have a 3-month dating period – this is because it needs to work for both the OBM and CEO. All people are different, and some people just work better with some people.

Having said that, there is not a one size fits all.

That is why it important to research the OBMs that are out there (Certified OBM Directory; you can find me here too!) and have a Discovery Call to get chatting about what your needs are. Once you are happy to appoint your OBM, there is a Kick-off Meeting – do allow at least 90 minutes for this. In my experience it is really important to get proper time with the CEO so they download to you properly.

Following the discovery call, the OBM will prepare a 3/6-month high level plan which the client CEO needs to approve; it is your business after all.

Then you get on with it and make the magic happen with regular (mostly weekly sometimes monthly) check ins with the CEO.

If you are interested in having a Discovery Call you can book directly here, if you are a VA reading this and would like to know more about the Certified OBM Training here is the link to the Resources page.
