The 5 AM Club

Latchgate 5AM Club

I have always been a morning person.  I used to train and complete bootcamp sessions before 6am so I could still be at work super early.  Now I split my time between getting my family ready and having some time for me.

Recently I read the ‘5AM Club’ by Robin Sharma.

The book explains that truly elite performers learn that they can make extraordinary things happen themselves.

Well I am not an elite performer but I do get that if you get up before anyone else in the house (apart from my dog who is ready and waiting at 4:58am for his food now), you do have this unique opportunity to focus on something.

Sharma states it is important and vital for us to work on all our “interior empires” at this time.

  1. Mindset
  2. Healthset
  3. Heartset
  4. Soulset

The recommendation is that we follow the 20/20/20 formula. In that you do 20 minutes of vigorous exercise, spend 20 minutes reflecting and then 20mins learning something to grow as an individual.

Well I am not mastering the 20/20/20 balance but I do find that the mornings are super productive and peaceful.

As Sharma says the ‘first hours of the day are where heroes are made’

My recommendation is don’t hit Snooze, get up and make that hour before anyone else gets up about YOU.

Whether it’s working, reading , exercising – or just enjoying the sunrise with a coffee. Starting the day you mean to go on will make a positive impact to your productivity.

How will you spend your mornings?

Which interior empire will you concentrate on first?
